Apple will be releasing the major software upgrade, iOS 11 for iPhone / iPod / iPad today, 19th September 2017. There are also watchOS 4 and tvOS 11 (gen 4 or later models only) upgrades being released today.
If you wish to jump in immediately and install iOS 11, you do so at your own risk as an early adopter - this is a major upgrade to the iOS operating system and there are plenty of major changes this time around (including the removal of 32-bit application support). Also, if you install iOS 11 you cannot go back! It's worth waiting at least a few days in case there are any major problems. iOS will also include important security fixes that iOS 10 will not receive so you should start planning your upgrade now though! If you are going to upgrade iOS 11 via iTunes you will need the just released version 12.7 – but note that there are significant changes in this version of the software! See our iTunes 12 FAQ article for more details.
